The report attempts to address whether inheritances and gifts are received predominantly by those who are economically more advantaged, by what age groups, how people spend their inheritance and from whom they are most likely to inherit from.

According to the latest UK House Price Index for August 2018, the average price of houses in Scotland was £153,309 - 4.1% higher than in the same month last year. Despite the average UK house price also increasing - up 3.2% in the year to August 2018 - the report highlighted that property prices in Scotland are growing at a slightly faster rate.
